Can I get the same results at home?

Products available in your local shop are made to be quick and easy to use, and to get reasonable results when used by hand. An all-in-one product that cleans, polishes and waxes in one go is always a compromise. It wont remove or reduce the defects, it will try to hide them with fillers that will quickly be worn away.

Real improvements to paintwork will only be made via suitable products using a machine polisher and a top coumpounds.

if my paint is in terrible condition?

Oxidation is caused by exposure to UV light. Mostly seen on red cars with a single stage paint (no clearcoat), yellow can suffer badly too, and can be seen where the colour fades and becomes blotchy. Although not always totally removable, the colour can usually be significantly improved, and by using UV resistant products it will help to reduce further fading.

It does affect other colours too, but they are not as obvious. If the colour has faded under the clearcoat it will not be possible to rectify with repainting.

How can i take care once my car has been detailed?

Once detailed your car will be effortless to maintain. In order to keep it looking its best, and prevent the reappearance of swirls where possible, Shine On Auto Detailing can demonstrate safe wash techniques and supply products at competitive prices. A good quality shampoo, together with a washmit and drying towel, used in conjunction with a bucket (ideally two) fitted with a grit guard are the basic requirements. We always carry these sorts of items for you to purchase at the time of your detail.

The protective products will need periodically topping up. Depending on the choice of product, and the environment the car lives in, we would recommend every 3-6 months. Statements made by some product that claim to offer protection for years without further applications are simply not true and will fail leaving your paint unprotected. We know that some of our clients enjoy waxing their car, we can supply you with competitively prices top quality products to compliment the treatments applied to your car at the time of the detail.

How much will this cost me?

The cost of a detail will depend on the treatments chosen, products requested and the vehicle itself, please contact me for a free no obligation quote.
